Addressing a Pension Funding Crisis in State and Local Government

What is the extent of under-funding in various pension plans currently? What are the political, legal, social, and fiscal challenges to pension reform? What policy alternatives should be considered to lessen the burden on future generations? What legal, legislative or political changes will be necessary to implement these alternatives?

This roundtable policy discussion will provide a forum for state and local government leaders and policy practitioners to examine these issues. Presentations by three experts will be followed by a discussion among all participants.
