Summary
The Great Recession, starting in December 2007, was one of the worst economic contractions in generations. The economy experienced significant increases in the number of people looking for, but unable to find employment. Many researchers have investigated the degree to which recessions affect the ability of young graduates to succeed in the labor market. However, much of this research ignores the potentially permanent effects that recessions might can have on young graduates.
This project–led by faculty affiliate, Jesse Rothstein–investigates the potentially long-term impact of recessions on the employment prospects of young college graduates, with a focus on the group of Millennials harmed most recently by the Great Recession.
